We Need Your Box Tops – Digital and Clipped

The Box Tops for Education fall program submission deadline was Friday, 23 February. So, please submit your box tops or receipts now in order to meet the mailing deadline!

The box tops program has released a new mobile app, requiring participants to scan their receipts thereby validating their box tops purchases. As a result of these changes, the program is phasing out the clipped box tops over the next couple of years. Louise Archer ES will continue to collect the box tops over these years so please submit the clipped box tops via the school’s pink mailbox, identifying the student’s teacher. I will also collect any grocery store receipts via the pink mailbox and scan them for you. For more information, please visit the LAES PTA box tops program link OR the direct box tops link.

Please help Louise Archer Elementary School by submitting all box tops to the LAES teachers or via the pink mailbox soonest. The class with the most box tops will receive a frozen treats party in March.

Louise Archer ES thanks you for your support! Please email Karen Meade with any questions.

Combination Locks for Ms. Lipton

Do you have combination locks you are no longer using? We are trying to collect locks for Ms. Lipton so that 6th graders can practice for their lockers.

Please drop off any locks (with their combinations) in Ms. Lipton’s mailbox in the front office. Second option there is a box on the door step of Kristin Herrmann’s house – 343 Orchards St. NW, Vienna, VA 22180 – you can drop off locks and combinations there. We are looking for 20.

Ms. Lipton also needs to games (Uno, chess, checker) for her mentor program. Any unused games particularly for two people please drop in the front office for Ms. Lipton.

Louise Archer STEAM Fair

The Louise Archer STEAM Fair will be held on Tuesday, March 24, during the school day and from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The STEAM Fair is open to all students and all the kids are highly encouraged to participate. The goal of the STEAM Fair is to excite kids about Science and Technology and the LA STEAM Fair is a great opportunity for families to have a fun learning experience together. Please encourage your kids to explore any area of their interest as, often the simplest ideas make the best projects.

For more information and project ideas check the STEAM Fair PTA page.

To register, students may sign up in their classrooms or online by March 19.

We also need volunteers to help with set-up, tear down and monitoring displays, both during the day and in the evening. Please consider helping out! Sign-up here.

PTA is seeking volunteers for 2020-2021

We have four areas we are looking to fill immediately.

Treasurer: We need a new Treasurer for next year, but ideally would like someone to start shadowing the rest of this year for a smooth transition. This position is a 2 year term.

LA5K: We urgently need 2 co-chairs for the LA5K. Planning needs to start around May in order to secure a date for the race and a timing company. Then there is a big lull until August when the planning for the fall event starts.

Before and After School Programs: We are looking for 2 more chairs for the Before and After School Activities team. Volunteers to either help organize some of the activities, and/or someone who is near the school from 4-5pm who can help with some of the day to day when needed. For example, when one of the vendors cancels a class or just doesn’t show up, and we need to help the school get the word out and get kids home etc.

Nominating Committee: We need 2 more people to serve on the nominating committee. This committee meets in the spring to help fill the vacant positions for the upcoming year.

There will be more open positions and their descriptions to come! If you are interested in any of these positions, please email Alice Suh.

Big Thanks!!

Thank you Krista Cunningham, Sneha Mody, Jackie Wirth, and Stacy Grant for another fabulous night of pizza and Bingo. There were many big Bingo winners. Also a special thanks for running another fabulous silent auction. The items this year were priceless.

Thanks to all the teachers and staffs that helped with Bingo Mr. Drost and Mr. Garrahan. Also our auction would not be complete with all the fabulous teacher and staff experiences that all our talented teachers and staff donated this year. We appreciate your time and effort to spend extra time with our children.

Thank you to Regan Morgan and Shannon Aimone for organizing stocking the teacher lounge full of goodies for all our fabulous faculty and staff. Also thank you to everyone who contributed. It really does take everyone!

Special thank you to Stephanie Emilo for organizing an amazing Skate Night. It was super fun to see so many Louise Archer families out there skating under the disco ball.

Local History Lovers

We would like to add Louise Archer to the Vienna Historic Registry – we need a volunteer or small committee work with the Vienna historical society to register the school. We are already a historical landmark by the town, this is just to add the school to the registry. Please contact Kristin Herrmann if you are interested.
